International Seminar: “The Cultural Sector Today” (september 10-11, 2009)

INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR: “THE CULTURAL SECTOR TODAY” (SEPTEMBER 10-11, 2009)

On the 10th and 11th of September, 2009 the International Seminar entitled “The Cultural Sector Today: Opportunity, Challenge and Response” was held in Cartagena de Indias.  This seminar had, as its central focus, the role of the cultural sector in an era of economic crisis, and the way in which local industries can face globalization by adopting a clear and inclusive cultural regulatory system. 

The following entities participated in the organization of the seminar: Colombia’s Ministry of Culture, Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar, the D&C Network, Aecid/Spanish Cooperation Center in Cartagena de Indias, the French Embassy in Colombia and the French Ministry of Culture. Among the participants were:  Eduardo Somensatto, Mauricio Reina, Philippe Chantepie, Michael Hutter, Edna Dos Santos, Eduard Miralles, Esteban Piedrahita, Hector Schargorodsky, Pau Rausell Köster, Anita Weber, Xavier Marcé Carol, Jordi Pardo, André Frenette, Luciano Borgoglio, Jean-Pierre Blais, Juan Carlos Gaitán, Andrew Senior, Gabriel Zapata, Iván Darío Lobo, María Elena Carballo, Alberto Abello and Edgar Morin.
